Important Update for MinnesotaCare & Medical Assistance Recipients
A long-term effort to protect and expand access to chiropractic care in Minnesota

🧭 Where We Stand

This is not a sprint. It’s a long-term commitment to protecting and expanding access to chiropractic care in Minnesota.

There will be no changes to Medical Assistance (MA) chiropractic coverage or the provider tax before 2027. Since 2026 is not a budget year, legislative change cannot occur until at least 2027. The work we do between now and then is critical.

⚠️ Please note:

All MA and MinnesotaCare plans are affected — including those administered by third-party managed care organizations.
Chiropractic coverage for adult patients (21 and over) has been eliminated across the board.

📅 Save the Date: Day at the Capitol – February 19, 2026

Last year, only about 60 chiropractors attended—out of more than 3,400 licensed providers in Minnesota.
We must do better. At the very least, give one day for your profession and your patients.

⚠️ Clarifying the Provider Tax

Some providers have asked whether they should withhold payment of the provider tax.
We do not recommend this. Chiropractors are still included in MA and MinnesotaCare for patients under 21.

We were advocating for exemption from the provider tax even before this benefit was cut.
Now, we have an even stronger case. Let’s work together to do it the right way.

✅ Advocacy Action Checklist

• Find your legislators

• Email them – Ask them to support reinstating MA chiropractic coverage

• Invite them to your clinic – Let patients share their stories in person

• Donate to supportive legislators – $75/person or $150/couple (refundable via PCR program)

• Donate to MCPAC – Support our shared advocacy

• Contact the Governor – Let him know how this harms your patients and your practice

• Join the MCA Legislative Committee – Be part of the solution

👥 What Your Patients Can Do

• Call or email their legislators

• Write letters

• Submit video testimonials

🔚 The Bottom Line

Change in 2027 isn’t guaranteed. But without action now, it won’t happen at all.

We won’t just fight to get back what we had—we’ll fight for what we want:
